![]() ![]() The cool part was I had no issues running KAK and ERA (Eset's management console) in tandem while I pushed eset (and removed kaspersky) after everything was configured correctly.ĭon't get my intention wrong. Firewall is a bit touchy, but I'd rather have it that way and configure around it. I'm happier, and I've got less user complaints. The management interface is a little dated, and I had issues for a couple weeks trying to figure out how to push updates to clients due to my misconfiguration some settings. ![]() R esources are minimal, and the update pushed to clients is smaller. I ended up migrating to Eset's Endpoint Secuirty package, after I got tired of KES v8. supplier who stupidly recomended them we will have to swallow many thousands but thats worth it to just stop having to do battle with their aweful, AWEFUL support and go back to ESET. We eventually moved away non-the-less as servers kept being taken out by them (with hundreds of servers and thousands workstations we can't have statistically unsound A/V out there), but now it seems that Kaspersky are also incompetent.Īfter doing battle with these things for weeks, with clients just getting the impression that we are incompetent, with contracts at risk, you'd think that they'd have gone out of business, but no, somehow they still make money, their developers are still doubtless getting nicely over-paid and their directors are still presumably paying themselves enough to afford accountants who can help them avoid paying tax.Īs the I.T. We only moved away from ESET because servers were occasionally receiving updates which would crash them, but at least their support would admit to known issues and instability etc. Some PCs just crash with Kaspersky splash screens etc. The PCs despite sitting in a simple LAN and being identical all behave differently with respect to updates from Kaspersky and error messags from it. The management interface is unweildy and confusing. Have had a nightmare with support which is just a pathetic display of untrained, unprofessional children working from scripts who are just interested in towing the company line and are clearly conscious that they are being recorded by their boss, so never concede anything. Looks like it is trying to run full scans on the PCs. It seems to be sporadic as in it does it once every other day etc. I've made a policy with everything except the basic stuff turned off and it still does it. I have 100 workstations on a test using this and every one of them is experiencing 25min logons (5min average with Trend) and Kaspersky 8.0 is using all resources during this time. Hope you guys don't mind my gripe post, I've just had it with Kaspersky at this point. I'll just be happy not to have to deal with it any more. It's difficult to calculate how many hours I've wasted on this product and I'm not going to bother counting how many complaints I've had from my user base. ![]() ![]() Unplugging the machine and locking it in a safe makes it secure too, but I don't think you'll be getting much work done. It's frustrating as I had initially chosen Kaspersky due to its performance in independently run cross product trials, however, it doesn't matter how secure an anti-virus product makes your machine if it's 'administration' tools are more hindrance than help and if the agents cause users' productivity to drop due to the agent sucking up their machines' resources. Mercifully our license period is up in a couple months and I'm going to be reviewing trials of other products for a replacement. Good luck to those of you who are stuck with this thing, hopefully Vick81's find is helpful to some of you. ![]()
